Level 1b: Applied Arabic with Al-Kitab al-Asaasi |

In just 12 lessons this course will teach the equivalent of what is covered over an entire academic year at many Arab Universities. Based primarily on volume 1 of the famous Al-Kitab al-Asaasi with supplements from adawat ar-Rabt (American University of Cairo), this course will provide wide exposure to Arabic in everyday situations ranging from meeting new people, ordering a meal and visiting a doctor to reading newspapers, writing letters and negotiating basic contracts.
By the end of Level 1 Applied, students should;
- Be confident in conversing about most general subjects.
- Be capable of pursuing further studies in the Arabic medium
- Comfortably travel to and get by in an Arabic speaking country
Method
Having established a thorough grasp of Arabic syntax and morphology in Level 1 Classical Arabic, taught in the English medium, Applied Arabic will offer an opportunity and a challenge to immerse oneself in simulated Arabic environments. This course will be taught in the Arabic medium and supplemented by visual aides. Students will be expected to complete set exercises by the following lesson.
